Introduction To The World Of Skincare – What Are The Basics?

A lot has been said and done about Skincare. Some say its necessary and some say its just a luxury. But what do you think? What is the importance of a proper skincare routine in our life? Honestly, it has an extraordinarily strong impact on your personality and appearance, irrespective of your gender. No matter how much we tend to avoid it, proper skincare tends to be quite crucial for our hygiene and well-being. So, before we dive into the ocean of skincare, let us first discuss the basics!

What is Skincare?

Skincare, as the name suggests, is the process of taking proper care of your skin. It is crucial because our skin is the greatest barrier that we have against all kinds of germs and infections. Therefore, to keep the barrier healthy and effective, there is a need to know how we can keep our skin hydrated and healthy. There are several do’s and don’ts when it comes to skincare. We need to be extremely careful regarding what we use on our skin and understand the repercussions of any kind of mistake. For example, there various commercial soaps found in the market which are harsh in nature and tend to damage our skin, making it dry and irritated. Such products lead to the development of cracks and inflammation in our skin. Such cracks in our skin eventually make it vulnerable to various infections.

Why Skincare?

Skincare is a very subjective matter. Everyone has a unique skin texture and they must select their skincare products based on their personal requirements only. Now if you are still stuck to the question about why exactly you need skincare products, then here are a few points to support my views:

  • Our skin sheds itself every day – The human skin is said to shed itself about each minute daily. This means that even if you are blessed with healthy skin, it might deteriorate with each passing day. So, to remove all the dirt and dirt cells from your skin, it is necessary to use effective skincare products.
  • Prevention Is Always Better Than Cure Skin problems are not a new thing to talk about. We all have gone through skin issues like acne, rashes, inflammation, and dryness. In order to save yourself the time and money from visiting doctors in the future, it is important that you start taking your skin health seriously.
  • Boost Your Self-Confidence - When you wake up in the morning, what do you first notice in the mirror? Let me answer that for you. The very first thing that catches your attention is that one stubborn pimple on your face that refuses to go away. Now how do you plan to deal with it? Do you really think just water and a simple face wash will make it disappear? No, my friend, the situation will get worse with time. There is no denying the fact that a healthy-looking skin boosts up your self-confidence when you look into the mirror. The skin confidence is nothing but the comfort and ease that we feel in our own skin, whether with makeup or completely bare.
  • Skincare Routines Are An Inspiration Yes! You just read that right. If you adopt a skincare routine in your daily life, it would not be too long before you start to experience the results. The positive results will help you to develop and follow the skincare routine regularly which in turn will help you to create more healthy habits with time. So it is high time that we start appreciating the small changes and see them leading to a greater overall change.

How To Design A Basic Skincare Routine?

Now that you know what and why you need skincare, let us come to the idea of designing a proper skincare routine. First things first, skincare is a subjective matter where your skin attributes will guide you to find your perfect skincare match. But if you are a beginner and wish to know the basic chain of skincare process, here is are the insights for you:

-         Cleanse – Always, I repeat, always begin your skincare routine by washing your wash with a mild face wash.

-         Exfoliate – There are various exfoliators available that help you to remove the dead skin cells from your skin surface.

-         Tone – In order to balance your skin and reduce the penetration of various impurities into your skin, a toner should always be part of your skincare routine.

-         Moisturize – This is the final step where you hydrate and soften the skin with a suitable moisturizer as per your skin type.

The entire process is known as the CTM (Cleansing, Toning, Moisturizing) Routine and it works as the holy grail of your skincare needs. This process will not take more than 10 minutes of your day and you will start noticing the results within a few weeks itself.

In today’s times where self-love and mental health are coming up as the major issues faced by our generation, maybe its time to take care of yourself first before serving others. You need to start pampering yourself a little so that your self-esteem gets the must-needed boost. We all are simply perfect in what we are. There is absolutely no need to change ourselves for the society. But there is definitely a need to love ourselves and lead a healthy life at the end of the day.

Moreover, it is high time that we stand against the stereotype that skincare is only for women. Skincare is not gender-biased at all. We all need it and we all deserve healthy skin. A change in your skincare routine might not change the world for you but it will prove to be the first step towards self-acceptance and happiness!
